DG- I know you're not dissing Harry Potter! Now that would get my feathers ruffled. Heck, I wish I had the money for a plane ticket so I could go to London and get Ms. Rawlings going on the next book!

Tyler, I read the first one and found it passingly interesting, but not so much that I wanted to read the rest of them. I'm not much of one for the wacky, light-hearted stuff. They're great stuff for the young or young at heart, but unfortunately I'm neither.

BTW, The Wife read and loved them all...she says the LOTR stuff is "too heavy." Obviously she hadn't picked up the latest Potter book yet.

Well I have read the books numerous times.

The prequel "The Hobbit" helped make me a avid reader.

Mojave....My b-day is only 1 day before yours. I got to see the 1st Movie on mine.But the next 2 were and are workdays.

What is all the hype about Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings? One of my sister has read all the Harry Potter books and the other has seen the movies. And a few of my friends have seen the Lord of the Rings movies and owenstwo of them. Me I just don't get it. But then again I guess they could ask me the same thing about my hunting shows and hunting movies, and well hunting in general.

actually i got back at like 7, but just posted. we have to drive a while to watch movies. Anyways, it was very good! Although the left out the scouring of the shire, and saruman altogether! The battle of minas tirith is awesome. Gandalf does some awesome awesome fighting with his staff. Legolas also single handedly kills a oliphaunt. very awesome!

Have spent the weekend so far earning my wife's love with a bunch of pine trees and a dibble bar...if she catches me in here now I've had it.

I may just say screw it, go to the movie, and tell my wife she can spend the evening with the dibble bar.
