Practice, practice, practice. With the recent change in regulations regarding optics on muzzleloaders in Utah there seems to be more and more media advocating for "long Range" muzzleloaders with adjustable turret style peep sights. There are way too many people trying to get rifle distances out of a muzzleloader. Soon there will need to be another change in regulation that prohibits the use of these new types of peep sights. Muzzleloader tags and seasons were never intended to be for people wanting to take longer shots. These types of hunts are geared towards people willing to use a weapon that restricts distance and to benefits people willing to put in time and effort becoming proficient with a more "traditional weapon".

Just make it flintlock then. No one has a viable long range solution for that.

I said viable. You'd still have Utards slinging round balls well past their effective range.
No, I mean viable. A flintlock is simply an ignition system. Nothing makes it incapable of long range. That is in the barrel, not the ignition system.
