FWP removes mountain lions from Wild Horse Island State Park

State wildlife officials say they have removed three mountain lions from Wild Horse Island on Flathead Lake.

What's amazing to me is that many cats were sharing one island that is only 2000 acres. Granted, it must have been a puma heaven, but I would have expected them to be more territorial than that.

My take is a paper shuffler went for a walk and shit his pants when he saw some lions n that's the result

The word on the street is the annual counts of bighorns has been dwindling for years, to the point there was worry there would be no sheep to transplant in future seasons. Also the cats made a habit of stashing their kills under porches of summer cabins. Not a great situation. I'm sure more cats will find their way to the island sooner or later. The bay ices over most winters, even if the entire lake no longer freezes.
