Lions Culled From Wildhorse Island

This is why they removed them........

"Due to the lack of escape terrain for bighorn sheep and the number of lions on the island, the bighorn population has been reduced to a number we haven’t seen in decades.”

The word on the street is the annual counts of bighorns has been dwindling for years, to the point there was worry there would be no sheep to transplant in future seasons. Also the cats made a habit of stashing their kills under porches of summer cabins. Not a great situation. I'm sure more cats will find their way to the island sooner or later. The bay ices over most winters, even if the entire lake no longer freezes.
