Let’s talk about the 243win

The 243 is still relevant today, the new 6mm craze is always comparing to the 243. The 243 is successful at many things, including taking some rather large game that most people ask," are you sure you wanna use a 243 for that?",low recoil, ammo is plentiful. It's a great cartridge!

Wow, according to some, its very strange you recovered that deer...

Nice job!

The tracking job is easy when they just tip right over. No complaining about that kind of performance.

.243. Wood stock. Green box ammo. Snow on the ground. Hunting from the ground. Perfect shot. Well done !! Congratulations !! That’s hunting !!

Thanks!! It was a great sit

Me either. We just shot stuff. With .30-06 rifles. Old ones. mtmuley
Me too sporterized '03 with a Bushnell scope, 2 groove barrel and 180 grain core-lokts.

Shocked we ever killed anything.

I didn't know there really was anything else as a kid.

Well there was green box core locts, blue box power shocks, and grey or white box winchester soft point something or others.. All killed everything great far as I could tell.

Something tells me you probably haven't ever seen a Core-Lokt, much less killed anything with one. mtmuley

Oh? That's a weird hunch. Like ive never been inside a sporting good store that sells ammo in the near 30 years ive been hunting?

Ever used the lowly Core-Lokt? mtmuley

Yes. Cant honestly remember what I did or didn't shoot with them though. I haven't always overthought rifles and ammo like I do now. Used to be core-loct, federal power shock, or win power point - whatever was cheapest on the shelf. Paid no mind to what any of them did differently than each other, they all killed anything i shot at without fuss. Grew up hunting in areas where 100 yards was a long shot. Step dad and step brother are Rem guys who have always shot 243 and 308 core locts. Never any drama I can recall.

It's more fun if you don't over think it. mtmuley
