Titan the white german shepherd. Best dog around kids I've met. No jumping, no licking, listens well even to kids. Getting up there in age.

Because he listens so well he has to put up with shenanigans from both my wife and my daughter. Christmas pj's

Ryder the Border collie. Got him off a working ranch somewhere north. Great dog. Listens better than Titan most of the time but just cant get him to sit still. High anxiety dog. Love him to death. Running partner we avg 20 miles a week together.

And finally. The newest addition to the family. Shasta the 3 month old white German shepherd who my wife said we just had to have. “It enriches the dogs lives to have more dogs around” 🙄 2 dogs was enough. Oh well. Ya win some you lose some.

How did you settle on the name Shasta?

How did you settle on the name Shasta?

Originally from commiefornia. Kids wanted "Bones" which is what she had when we got her. I wasn't a fan. Second was Luna. Still wasn't a fan but I didn't really get a choice in naming this dog. So it was Luna for a couple hours till we got home and I mentioned Shasta to my wife and that sealed the deal. I wasn't particularly happy about her at first but you cant really be mad at a puppy.

Edited previous post she's actually 3 months old. Idk where I got 6 from.B3D77E4F-937B-401C-999D-278A58FD7610.png

Foreground:
Believe it or not, the breeder was going to put him down because she didn't like the way he traveled! WT...?
Actually, he's my service dog.

Background:
We wanted 2 kids, a nice home, careers, kids in dance, soccer and tee ball and a puppy!
EGADS! Puppy is a hand full and out of boredom, digs holes in our landscaped back yard. (Where's the ACE!)
Okay! Something has to go!
Not the kids, husband, activities, fancy house or landscaped yard!

We rescued her!
An absolute sweetheart! I call her Sweetpea. Not her name!
We got medical records.
Their kids were small, she weighed about 80 pounds and FULL of energy.
Chasing kids and careers left little time for pooch! Sooo....she redecorated the manicured back yard with some randomly placed excavations of alternating depths!
Pop was livid. So puppy went in a crate...and howled...and barked...and yelped. Disturbing the entire neighborhood.
Solution?
ACE in daily doses.
Note the tilted head! I think they burned her brain.
Very sweet. Very loving.
No yard holes.

BUT....stay out of their way when they are playing!
He (Pop) tips the scales at 120. Sweetpea at 90!

Love 'em both!

Well, my little buddy crossed the rainbow bridge after a long battle with kidney failure. He was a good friend.
To lighten the mood per the original intent of this thread....this is what happens when dad is left alone with the baby and the dogs.

There is no measure of the love our 4 footed friends give us.
Unrequited, unending, unquestioned love.

Tom Hall says it very well in his song, "Old dogs and children and watermelon wine"

"Old dogs care about you,
Even when you make mistakes....."
