I've had a crush on land cruisers since my neighbor had one in 1994 (and still does). bought a well loved 1994 FJZ80, previous owner added the snorkel, 3" lift, 35s, probably way more tint than is legal but needed in South Florida, and redid the upholstery. its my daily driver but its also my rig for cruising around the edge of the everglades.
planning on adding a swing arm for a spare, Winch and ARB or similar, and some better lights than the ones on there for spotting pythons at night.121966049_10219901976392784_1636581312835071203_o.jpg

Better than the new ones. I rode in one with a guy pheasant hunting two years ago. The blind spots are horrible. He said yeah, it's like driving in a culvert. And always look at the fuel gauge when passing a gas station. Toyota does make a good rig though.

My 2005 4runner is getting pretty tired. I'm hoping to find a land cruiser to replace it in the spring. My brother has a 99 that is a phenomenal rig with little work done to it.

I drive a 93 cruiser with 340k on her. This summer I drove from Alabama to tennessee, tennessee to Montana, Montana to California, California to tennessee. Only issue I had on the drive was one time where I needed a jump start, some sensors starting to go bad in the transmission, and a bolt came loose on the exhaust system while driving a dirt road to a trailhead, causing a leak.

sensors have been replaced, exhaust leak has been fixed, connections on the battery have been adjusted.

I had a couple friends do the tennessee to Montana leg with me. 2 days, 3k miles. Here we stopped and drove through Badlands NP

what size petrol engines in those 80s? over here we had 4.5ltrs and they had shocking reliability reputations. head gaskets galore!

It’s a 4.5 and I’ve had to do a head gasket in mine. Next time it goes, I’m just going to put the money in and put in a 4.7l crate engine from a tundra/100 series
