Kimber Montana

It should be noted that the early Montana's had issues with the mag box binding and or the front action screw bottoming out. The guys on 24hourcampfire figured this out checking these two items plus skim bedding the lug has turned most crappy Kimbers into fine shooters.

Not the turd I had.

X2
Mine was an Absolute shiit stick that's been back to factory, re bedded, re crowned, and resold several times. Last I saw it was still shooting 1" "if I do my part". LOL
I don't care what somebody else shoots, I got turd. My friend got a turd. Schmalts got a turd. 30 seconds googling kimber problems will show we aren't alone.

I'd take a 1" rifle that weighs 5lb 4oz over .25" gun that weighs 9lbs any day. To each his own.

Shooting a rifle, load and scope dialed in that knocks the lights out is like finding yourself stranded in a stalled elevator with a far-sighted, aroused supermodel that left her glasses in her hotel room. Take your shot and hold on to "her" no matter what. I have seen old men get misty eyed talking about the "tack driver" they traded decades before because they were bored with the accuracy or felt they needed the latest, greatest caliber or rifle. The Sirens will call all of us towards the rocks of Scylla but cover your ears and hold onto her. Well-placed shots are good for the soul.

I would have kept my Montana if it came close to 1" LOL. BTW, the Sako finnlight is only a few OZ more. So I can say I would rather own a 6 pound gun that shoots .75 inch with factory loads over a 5lb 12 oz gun that throws 1.5" flyers with every handload you try it with.

My Kimber 84

I've hunted with my M84 Kimber Classic in 308 for about 10 seasons, killed about a dozen head of big game with it. Pronghorn out to 250 yards, several deer and a few elk at closer ranges. I love to pack it, love to carry it. It spends a lot more time in my hands and a lot less time slung over my shoulder than did my old Model 70. I do find that the light barrel heats up very quickly on the range after a few shots but everything I've hit with it in the field has died with one shot.

I have a Kimber Montana in .300 WSM. I love it and took my nice chocolate sow with it from 150 yds while moving. Never had an issues with it and put a nice Zeiss Conquest on top.

Sucks to hear guys have had issues with them. I like Kimber enough I'm buying one of their 1911s in the next week or so. Good luck!
