Question about felt recoil

They never seem to recoil when shooting at live game except maybe that one time when I was prone downhill trying to shoot on the flats when the 300wm slipped beneath my shoulder and the bridge of my nose said hello to the scope. The things we learn.

Realistic answer is you can't calculate felt recoil.

There are formulas that calculate the energy that the gun will actually recoil.

But felt recoil is really to the individual.
Some people just handle recoil differently than others.

Agreed. I am fortunate to be one that recoil doesn't really bother me or hurt my shooting skills. To me, I know that certain rifles/calibers are going to give me more of a poke to the shoulder and I just deal with it. Probably the hardest kicker that I have owned was my Mark V in .300 Wby. mag. It was a great rifle but I sold it. Not due to the recoil, but was just more gun than I needed for Northern Michigan woods deer hunting, with it's 26" barrel it was a bit cumbersome for use in a box blind. I was always able to shoot it accurately though. I also own a .257 Wby. mag, a .264 Win. mag, and a 7mm Rem. mag. No problem with those either. Have many standard calibers too, love my rifles. I know people that developed a flinch shooting a .30-06, we are all different.

I've put about 100 rounds out of my 7mm-08 so far and ill say if I'm shooting at a target then I notice what feels like a slight push back but if I'm shooting at a deer then there is no recoil. Just my 2 cents but my 7mm feels like my 410 with slugs both just feel like a small push which unless your really paying attention then you don't feel either

7mm08 and a .410 are comfortable for most anyone to shoot. However, up that to even a .30-06 and a 12 ga, the game drastically changes for a lot of people. Some people really struggle with recoil.

I would also put the 30-30 in the mix of 410 and 7mm-08 but I've shot some 12ga and they wasn't horrible definitely felt it but not to the point of pain as for 30.06 never shot one
