Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

It's not Christmas until? Holiday tradtions!

Christmas Eve: Went to the son that lives in same state down the street and since this was tamale-making day for them so we had two types of freshly made tamales plus cheese enchiladas then the grandkids got to open presents from us.

Christmas Day: Tomorrow morning we host them for Country Breakfast which is sausage cooked and crumbled into cream gravy made from the sausage drippings plus some red pepper flakes for a bit of kick. And we cook link sausage and thick applewood smoked bacon. And I make scratch buttermilk biscuits. And scrambled eggs with Mexican cheese added. And, a homemade blackberry cobbler from scratch to serve for ice cream. Breakfast hits the table as the Chiefs kick-off as we are KC expats here in the desert.

Early evening we are cooking bone-in prime rib plus will have cream gravy made with the drippings and mashed potatoes made with cream and butter plus potato rolls from Costco which we will heat up. Will make creamed corn and green beans cooked in beef broth. Leftover cobbler if any left and if not then have a big box of See's Candy.

After dinner, will drive my mother around to see the Christmas lights in the "big city" here in the desert. Some impressive displays in front yards including some with music which you can tune into on your radio.
