Italy

Thank you. We kind off do things differently at our age. We sleep until nine or ten at night and then go out. In Venice and we went to a Jazz club last night and had a great time. Thought of you guys and your love of music. They ask us if they could play something for us and we ask them to play "When the saints go marching in". The brass marched around the tables while playing, a lot of fun. Very busy and probably will not stay. Has anyone of you fellows traveled south from Venice along the coast and if so any recommendations ? thanks

timberman56 --congratulations to your daughter and what a nice present. Your wife and you will love it.
Rimini is a fun little beach town and you can pop up to San Marino from there. See the changing of the guard, get your passport stamped and maybe check out the torture museum. :)

you are so right about Rimini. What a great find. Beaches are nice but the nightlife is fantastic, so many options.

SFC B---we also enjoyed Arezzo. thought the cathedral was very beautiful. And for bird lovers, --Po Delta, is a must visit, they claim to have over 300 or 400 species or something like that.

Dirtclod--I hear you, but in my case--too late lol

I have been ask about beaches and the short answer is IMHO Europe does not have the best beaches. I like Crete, but even it doesn't compare to Copa Cabana, almost any island in the Caribbean or Tahiti ( although the draw for me to Tahiti is the bungalows build out over the water )

I am going to hate giving up this car, the memories with my husband, the sound of the motor, how it draws in young men (-;

Hunting wife, are you available to drive me next time ? I am sure Hunting Husband wont mind LOL

Thanks everyone, this trip will be over soon, but appreciated those who went with me, via this thread

Europe has some absolutely stunning beaches, some of the beaches in Crete are OK, but maybe you need to do some more travelling to see what Europe has to offer?
Crete certainly has more to offer than average beaches that's for sure, like a walk down the Samaria gorge, Minoan ruins etc

Even the UK has some great beaches, Google Newquay as an example, people travel from all over to surf there.

If the people who asked you want to know more about some of the great beaches in Europe get in touch, even me as a person who hates beach holidays has visited quite a few!

I like the idea of spending the kids inheritance though, Ferrari 308 rental for a few days, must be in the $1000's?

Safe trip home. 😎

I love the homeland!

I just got back from Italy a week ago and spent some time in the Portofino and Santa Margherita-Ligure area and it was spectacular.

We did a day trip to Cinque Terre and it was very cool but very crowded and we happily returned to Portofino and enjoyed the quieter atmosphere.

Some really great hiking in the area as well. Spent a couple days hiking between San Fruttuoso, Camogli and Portofino.

Finished up the trip spending a few days in Torino then to Berlin to drop the youngest daughter off at her study abroad summer session.

Really great trip with the wife and youngest kiddo.

Richard, without a doubt, beaches, like everything else, is in the eye of the beholder and since I dont surf, the best surfing beach in the world might not be the one I would choice. But you are correct

As to inheritance, I hope the day I go , there is just enough left to pay for the cremation.

Fishn4eyes. Glad you got to return and spend time enjoying your homeland, with your family and congratulations on having a daughter going to school in Germany this summer. I wish her all the best. Thank you for sharing with us.

Oh geez...Hunting Husband could tell you all about my fondness for running ponies. 🤭 As for wine, I’ve been known to share a bottle...or two. I do hope you gave the limoncello equal time?

Enjoy the remainder of your trip. I’ve enjoyed the updates!
