Hey guys and gals, wanted to give you a heads up if your even inclined to get out of the big cities and the well know Tuscany area when visiting Italy. Lake Garda and couple of the towns close to it are worth visiting as well as Cremona, if you want to see a beautiful violin museum. We have a lot of music lovers here. However the gentleman I spoke with did not know Charlie Daniels. Food is excellent, even one place with a couple of wildlife dishes, wine is superb, people are friendly, life is good. However, as good as the memories are while listening to the Eagles as we drive, I miss my husband.

But so far she has not ran into anything, food and wine is superb, and we will be in Venice in a couple days--maybe. One thing about being retired is you do not have a time schedule (-:

I lived in a little town just outside of Lake Garda for several years. Loved it and miss it. Bolzano is a must see place, Utzi the frozen man is there with his museum. Linus pizza is amazing and Cantina Bertagna is another must if you have time. We shipped a bunch of wine from Bertagna back home, still have a bunch we reserve for special occasions.

Doesn't know Charlie Daniels, eh? What's up with that?

Sounds like an adventure. A good bottle of wine and something different for dinner would be nice too.

thanks guys

JLDemo, hope you get back for a visit soon

jryoung, have fun!!!

Brent, Besides not knowing Daniels, the word "fiddle" was not used a lot lol

Harley, lol love it, thank you

SFCB too old and internet ignorant to know what your post means but if it was positive , thank you (-;

JLDemo--Hope get get back soon. It is a cool place for sure. We were not disappointed at Artemisia or Esplanade. Both places were great. My running partner could not decide one evening so ordered both a fish dish and a meat dish ( very unusual rack of lamb ) and I had the home made paste stuffed with duck and we each ate some off of all three plates. Artemisia had a dessert wine that was magnificent.

and away we go-------btw, we dont just play old stuff---we have some new stuff also like the Eagles, Mammas and Pappas, and lets see how good you guys are--we also have Bridge over troubled water, does anybody know who sings it ? (-;

Europe..... that is text-speak for a heart :) My little one was born in Sacilie when we were stationed in Vicenza. Italians are wonderful, warm people (especially if you at least try to speak Italian). I hope you enjoy every moment.

sfcb----thank you again sir --and--thank you for your service as well.

Hunting Wife----and the guys on here think they are the only ones who know good music (-; Just a quick note that we have laughed about Since we are touring in a rented Red 1984 Ferrari ( think Magnum P.I. ) A young( 30's ) attractive man ask my running mate, also in her 80's if she would take him for a quick ride about town ( a little town btw ) I told her, you dont know him he might rape you and she said--THAT is what your afraid might happen ? and laughed. Then said "maybe you should frisk him before we leave" She took him on a 30 minute ride and he bought us a bottle of wine and we left town safely LOL

thanks everyone for your kind replies to this non hunting thread--and "likes" to my original post

Well...did you frisk him?

Sorry. Couldn’t let that one go. 😂

Two old gals in a Ferrari across Italy. I love it! I’m envisioning Thelma and Louise meets Cannonball Run.

day how you were doing and if you rented the Ferrari.Drive
radically! 😎

+ 1, on the question and the post. :) I immediately thought of the movie, Calendar Girls, but I like yours even better

April, your posts my be as close to Italy as I ever get. Home made pasta stuffed with duck ?:cool:

pleasantly surprised to find Italy posts on here. I was born near Naples and lived there for 8 years. My family moved to the US after a horrific earthquake rolled through, killing thousands and leaving a quarter million people homeless, including us. Anyway, I am 46 now and have been living in US ever since and this country has been great to me and my family. I do still love going there on vacation though, in fact this spring we went to Torino, Firenze, Roma and Milan awesome sight seeing all around and ridiculously delicious food everywhere, coupled with the spirit of the Italians just made it an awesome experience for my family.
I’ve actually started to research hunting opportunities and have been amazed as to how extensive they are. In fact, Italy supposedly has the most diverse fauna in all of Europe. I’m thinking that next year I might just have to plan a hunt there...
Buona serata to all 😉

Hunting wife----no guts, no glory ---I didn't --well maybe later that evening in my mind while enjoying the bottle of wine he gave us LOL

JlDemo-----Wow, you were so correct. Anybody visiting northern Italy has got to check out the town of Bolzano!!!

dirt clod she is ! unfortunately my reflexes are not what they once were so I am leaving the driving to her.

western traveler 1 we are a long way from there, but I have had the opportunity in the past and you are correct

stealthy bowman thank you for the post. what a great story, Thank you. and best wishes on a trip back to your mother country real soon--maybe to hunt

o.k. guys and gals--next stop Venice

our daughter and a friend took a trip to the Amalfi Coast last year for graduation present (masters in speech pathology) and was so impressed the wife and I are making plans to go next year after she retires from teaching. sure would like to chase a goat/sheep while there but I'm sure the hunt would be out of my price range

You go girls! 😎

Thank you. We kind off do things differently at our age. We sleep until nine or ten at night and then go out. In Venice and we went to a Jazz club last night and had a great time. Thought of you guys and your love of music. They ask us if they could play something for us and we ask them to play "When the saints go marching in". The brass marched around the tables while playing, a lot of fun. Very busy and probably will not stay. Has anyone of you fellows traveled south from Venice along the coast and if so any recommendations ? thanks

timberman56 --congratulations to your daughter and what a nice present. Your wife and you will love it.
