When I got my last bow 5 years ago the technology was accelerating at the point of the mid range bows being as good or better than the top tier bows of 2-3 years previous. The technology trickles down to the point where even a lower end or mid range bow in 2015 will be worlds ahead of 15 years ago.
Bows are probably some of the most rapidly evolving technology in the hunting world. When you look at materials like composites and aluminum the manufacturing technology allows designers many more options of how to produce a good package and computer modeling and cad/cam technology makes prototyping much quicker so product evolution can come along quite a bit.
Generally speaking you wouldn't compare a GPS from 15 years ago to one today, while things like firearm design hasn't really changed save for better projectiles. A bow solid falls into the category of things that have changed a ton.
