In another 20 years...

I went to the range yesterday and the two fellows there were pissed because they only shoot suppressed and therefore did not bring any hearing protection along. They know I do not and usually have a larger bore rifle. I opened the clubhouse so they could get ear plugs. Guns should make noise and kick. Maybe you should take up knitting or jump rope. JK

It probably depends on the reason for chopping it. If you’re going down the suppressor road I don’t think there will be many regrets (unless the ATF uses all these purchases to come get the guns 😂).

I don’t have a suppressor but I do have several shorter rifles. They make for awesome woods guns or in a stand/blind but you better be prepared, the extra blast and muzzle rise can make them a handful…

There's always a new subphylum of snobbery emerging....

I was told last summer that I shouldn’t be allowed to shoot my braked RUM at the public range because it was too loud.

That was a fun day.

Edit to add: should get the next round of chopped/threaded barrels back tomorrow. Looking forward to having a 18” PRC and a 16” .223 and *gasp* they’re both tikkas!!! I’ll mail off round 3 in a few weeks - gotta shoot it first, then chop it.

I guess im going to have to start shooting my old Browning A bolt w/ boss again.

While I understand the in and outs and the why of suppressors, it's my personal choice to not use them. Maybe someday, but I am not there yet. On another site, one is almost ridiculed for shooting a magnum and not shooting any rifle that is not suppressed. Funny stuff. mtmuley

Suppressed magnum. Best of both worlds

They would love my 45/70 and the full power reloads I have.

My 45/70 doesn’t even come close to the concussive shock coming off my RUM. Last spring my hunting partner forgot to put his muffs up when I was getting settled in. Rocked him so hard he got vertigo and ended up in the ER.

"Bro, your rifle is too loud, go buy a 6.5 CM"....
Oh the irony goes deeper than that. No mention of a 6.5 CM, but I had to suppress the giggle as he walked back to his lifted white GMC that had a giant MTFU sticker in the rear window.

I shit you not.
