I’m out of a job

It’s been 9 years working side by side with the same guys. I’ve turned down multiple job opportunities because I wanted to stick with my mentor. I’ve excelled beyond my expectations with him and never thought I’d see the end.

The company we built for, said they aren’t selling houses like they thought, (probably after raising the price 160%) and will discontinue building until buying improves..

3 years ago my boss died of an “overdose” with foul play suspected and my friend and coworker died in a car accident on Baxter sober as a church mouse going the speed limit on lunch break.. many of the pics are 6+ years ago.

We started a new house every 7-8 days for almost 9 years so this last Monday was no different. 4 days later, that’s it. Poof…

Job security is never promised. Take the opportunities you are given. The grass isn’t always greener, until it could have been….

Sucks dude… sorry to hear that. I’ve been in construction for 28 years.

Everything is great until it isn’t. Looks like you have skills and nobody can take those away from you. I’m betting you’ll find a better situation in the end!

Keep your head up!

Appreciate you guys.. the pic of all the tools on the porch is us packing up and leaving today. The blue sweater belonged to the buddy that died on Baxter. We had talked about bow hunting together as he was a felon. He bought a bow from our other coworker, and got the license. He died 4 months later. I remember following him until he turned at Baxter lane and I went straight toward four corners. by the time I hit huffine, there were cops and ambulance everywhere rushing toward love lane… that sweater has hung in our work trailer since then with pride. I hung a turkey feather in that sweater the day I got it. Now I have to carry it on. I hope to find a quality spot to hang James’s sweater for years to come.

My boss that passed had two streets named after him. Well I say one for him and one for US. Ross Way, and Relentless Blvd

Never been fired but I ran jobs for a family company for 6 years.
From the ground up. Just finished one and called to ask when I should show for site work for the one planned down the street. "I won't be needing you for this one" was his response.
Wow
I took 2 part time jobs for Parks Depts and was hired full time the 3rd year, then a Park Ranger for 22 years.

I gave the family 2 tickets for speeding on the lake & failure to have proper PDF's 10 years later. LOL

Man I’m sorry to hear this. It sucks that he didn’t give you much of a heads up. There’s still a lot of building going on. I hope you find something soon.

Man that's tough. I'm in the commercial side of things and it's still looking really good for us. Don't hesitate to jump to the dark side!

It sucks having to leave a company. But the good news is that there's so many jobs out there for skilled tradesmen you won't have a time finding another position.

None will compare to the company you were with at first, but working with good guys makes all the difference. If the crew sticks together you guys could be a great selling point for a new/different builder. Take the reins and start your own gig and talk with different builders and work on getting your foot in the door! If you want to move here, I have positions available for the whole crew!
