I'm 24 years old and need to rent a car

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to bypass the fees? I have a class A CDL, nothing on my driving record, and am travelling with my girlfriend to Denver in July and need to be able to rent a car for us when we are there. It seems fine and dandy until they almost double the price when I put in my age.

I've traveled for work plenty, and they usually waive the fee if I'm with a co-worker, but since both of us are 24, I don't know if there's a way to get past them.

Anyone got any advice?

Man that sucks. Me and my wife are flying into Denver in July also. Not sure about getting the fees waived but we found a lot better deal not renting at the airport. The prices go way down 15 to 20 miles out. We are renting in aurora and taking a Uber from airport. Hope this helps.

Remember the pain. Some will waive the fee now if you are a college graduate. I'm 24 years from being 24 so I don't remember which company is doing that.

Depending on how long you are in Denver and how much traveling you are doing, it might be cheaper just to Uber everywhere. No need for gas, worry about parking, getting lost, and both of you can drink if wanted

We'll be driving up to cheyenne and exploring the rocky mountains, I'm not sure if Uber will be economical

Probably not in that case. Maybe just rent a car for that day then? I really don't know what else you could do to reduce the rate. Do you qualify for any discounts? Military, NRA, clubs of some kind?

You could try Turo...it's a car sharing program like VRBO or AirBnB but for cars. I've never used it but I have a buddy who rents out his van through it. I'm not sure if there is an age restriction but it may come out cheaper either way.

Frontier days? Check with your insurance company, sometimes you can qualify for discounts through your insurance.

I believe AAA still has a program for members that allows for Young Driver fee waivers on Hertz rentals. If the cost of the AAA membership is less than the fees, you should come out ahead.

Hey, fly right in to Cheyenne, they have daily jet service to DFW. Smaller airport and great for getting a rental. Or fly from Denver to Laramie and rent here.
The flights to Cheyenne are not bad and save a bunch of hassle over Denver.
You'll be minutes from the mountains in Cheyenne or Laramie.
Our Toyota dealership in Laramie has a sign out that they rent vehicles too.
