If you drew MT Elk Super Tag, which HD would you hunt in?

I was just day dreaming about this as I (im)patiently wait for the MT Elk Special permit draw results to be posted.

Interested to hear what you all have to say. I would be looking at 425 or 380 I think.

It would be more a question of which HD would you NOT hunt. I'd be like an ADHD kid on Red Bull at Disneyland.

I'd be lucky to not end up 1) unemployed 2) divorced and 3) in need of new truck. In no particular order.

This is a good unit should be able to find a mature bull

I've hunted here last few years for deer and cows , from what I've seen , a 300" bull should be a cake walk if u spend the time . Lots of public land on east side of unit - I have a few points and got denied for this tag - maybe next year . Can I ask how many points you had ?

I am very excited been applying 11 years last three in that unit. I have been through edge of it but never walked anything. Based on harvest and other data looked like a good area to me. All my experience is in 631 or 632 I figure it's very similar with a higher elk population. Thanks guys!

The odds at any states super tag drawing are so mind blowing that even thinking you have a chance is like thinking you just bought the winning powerball ticket.I'm like the rest of you though and still got to try.I'm not up to date on the great units in Mt as I'll never draw one,but I think theres good unit around Helena if I remember correct.

410 general rifle..prob bounce around in 700's also
310-46 late season if there was enough snow

Got to tag along with a guy who drew a very good unit several years ago. Not going to say which one, but it was a backcountry public land unit, archery hunt of a lifetime.

I drew 380 this year and searched a few old threads. Funny to see the disparity - when someone draws it's all doom and gloom "shoot the first 300"bull you see. But it still seems to make it on the super tag wish list. I'm thrilled.
