How did your legislators vote on this bill to restrict hunting and fishing opportunities? One of mine voted "yes" and one voted "no". I had written to both of them asking them to vote "No". I'll thank one of them and the other is going to get a letter asking why she voted for this bill.
How many of you know how your Reps. voted and are you going to vote for them in the next election if they voted FOR this bill?
"The “We Don´t Care If you Have A Place to Hunt and Fish Bill” (House Bill 252) was narrowly defeated in the Idaho House this week.
Good riddance. What a dumb bill.
It would have restricted the Idaho Department of Fish and Game´s ability to acquire, obtain, manage or lease land.
It would have crippled the state agency´s ability to obtain land for wildlife habitat and for hunting and fishing access.
The bill would have required F&G to get permission from county commissioners for any lease, purchase, easement or donation of land to the department in any county where less than 25 percent of the land is privately owned.
Here´s a list of Boise-area legislators who voted FOR HB 252, which is basically a vote against public access and hunters and anglers:
Gary Bauer of Nampa, Gary E. Collins of Nampa, Dolores Crow of Nampa, W.W. “Bill” Deal of Nampa, Debbie S. Field of Boise, Frances Field of Grand View, Kathie Garrett of Boise, Henry Kulczyk of Eagle, Shirley McKague of Meridian, Mike Moyle of Star, Robert Ring of Caldwell, Ken A. Roberts of Donnelly, William T. Sali of Kuna, Robert E. Schaefer of Nampa, and Fred Tilman of Boise, all Republicans.
Those from the Boise area who saved the day and voted against the bill were:
David H. Bieter of Boise, Max C. Black of Boise, Margaret Henbest of Boise, Wendy Jaquet of Ketchum, David Langhorst of Boise, Ken Robison of Boise, all Democrats.
Darrell Bolz of Caldwell, Clete Edmunson of New Plymouth, Julie Ellsworth of Boise, Janet J. Miller of Boise, Peter Nielsen of Mountain Home, Kathy Skippen of Emmett, Steve Smylie of Boise, Mark A. Snodgrass of Meridian and Richard “Rich” Wills of Glenns Ferry, all Republicans.
