Ive deer hunted in 27 several times and seen killable bulls in November every time. Last year they were quite close to the river, but still I looked at them and thought “huh. Interesting...sure glad I don’t have an elk tag.” I cannot imagine the misery of shooting an elk there even on a lot of those trails. If the OP can’t read these excellent responses and reevaluate the plan... good luck. Not trying to be snide, but the only way it remotely makes sense is if you have a plan to fly out the meat and maybe tried to kill one among the three of you. It’s a great adventure and a poor choice for a first western hunt.
