Ok. I’m new to non-resident hunting. I’m looking at Idaho because I live in Oregon and it’s close.

My question is. If I buy one of these early OTC tags that are available today, what happens if I put in for a draw of that same species? Is it a 2nd tag for that animal or do I replace the OTC tag with that controlled tag? If I’ve already paid for an elk or deer tag, do I have to pay twice if I draw? Thanks for any help, but it’s giving me a slight headache 😉

If you purchased a license and an OTC tag, you HAVE a tag for that area. If you put in for a controlled hunt, and you draw, you can keep your OTC tag, or surrender it for the draw tag. 1 tag, 1 fee. If you keep your OTC tag, the draw tag goes into the extra/leftover tag category..
