Nemont,
You're way too smart to believe that WWP will ever get that pipe-dream passed...maybe they're simply using some of Jose's methods to get a few of those hairy-legged tofu eaters to send them $35....
Buzz,
I don't believe that the Buffalo Commons will ever happen either. I just think that an organization that is led by people with those views are not representing my interests in public lands as a hunter. Jose can give money to whom ever he wishes and support their causes but I disagree with WWP. They already are attempting to apply public lands policy to private property.
Jose,
There are several pro hunting organizations pushing the BLM to obey the law.
These include the globally recognized, highly sensitive Teshekpuk Lake, the world's most important molting ground for the Pacific black brant and countless other geese, and the Utukok Uplands, calving ground to the Western Arctic caribou herd - by far the largest in Alaska.
Last year, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), due to vehement opposition by bipartisan groups - including local Eskimos (who depend on Teshekpuk as an important subsistence area), the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, an array of conservation groups and pro-hunting wildlife organizations such as Ducks Unlimited
In addition here is the list of organizations that WWP supports and works with. This is taken directly from their website. Notice any groups that work hard to end hunting? Or how about Earth First! that has been suspected of being a terrorist organization? Or Forest Guardians who want to charge hunters to access public lands. Or Andy Kerr's Larch Company that is working to ending the baiting of bears. In addition Andy Kerr supports taxing hikers, bird watchers, hunters and fisherman more to access public lands, even to include paying up to $500 for the privilege (not the right) to hunt on public land. These are the people who influence the decision makers at WWP. Go look at the WWP's board of directors, nearly all of them belong to more then one of the organizations listed below or also sit on their boards and advisory councils.
Alliance for the Wild Rockies
Amerian Lands Alliance
Center for Biological Diversity
Committee for the High Desert in Idaho
Defenders of Wildlife
Earth First!
Environmental News Network
Forest Guardians
Gallatin Wildlife Association
Great Old Broads for Wilderness
Greater Yellowstone Coalition
Idaho Conservation League
Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance
The Larch Company
Montana Wilderness Association
The Nature Conservancy
Oregon Natural Desert Association
Ralph Maughan's Wilderness Report
Sierra Club
Sinapu: Southern Rockies Wolf Web
Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance

Interesting that there isn't any groups like RMEF, DU, FNAWS or the like that WWP partners up with.
