There are elk in there but numbers are down and I've heard they are pretty quiet due to wolf population.

Would a jet pack be considered a "motorized vehicle" in the Wilderness?

27 on the left and 20A on the right. Confluence of the North Fork and the Middle Fork. Switchbacks are your friend.

We're thinking about using Llamas. No decisions yet. I tried Panhandle 2 years ago and ran into the same thing with the Elk being quiet, likely due to Wolves. It was an October hunt, and this will be Sept. Any difference with the Rut being in full swing?

I shot a bugling bull in the Frank this year in September. There aren’t a lot of elk in the unit. Hit and miss. Some areas hold herds with large areas of seemingly elkless zones. Be prepared to cover country.

So we've booked the Llamas and are focusing e-scouting on 27 and 26. Didn't expect record snow this year. Down here in the Tahoe area we've had 50'+ of snow fall, with more on the way. I've heard the snowfall for Middle Fork has been equally bad. Any local 411 on snow conditions? I'm guessing access will be impossible until May, and June is a better option for scouting trips.
