Just before heading off to elk camp I passed a very large milestone in my life. As of last week I have officially retired (again) and now am done working full time. I tried to get this done prior to turning 50 but missed by a couple of weeks ;) I have been blessed both through opportunity and that my plans have generally worked out when it comes to setting this up. I am NOT wealthy but I did a lot of planning and choose to live fairly simply. Through the last several years I have lost many colleagues and friends younger than myself and it became directly apparent that the adage "The one thing you cannot make more of is time" is shockingly true. So now I have more time to do what I want, when I want and with whom I want. I am truly thankful. BTW, I also now have time for shenanigans of various types so if anyone is in the AO of the Springs or just generally wants an ornery old vets around for comic relief hit the Ol Sarge up!!

Congratulations and thank you for your service. I did it three times. I think this one is goin to stick. It took about a year to find my rhythm...
Enjoy...

Congrats, I know when we talked last you were looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy every min of it, you have earned it.

Thank you for your service to our country and congratulations on your retirement.

Would you be willing to share with us a special hunt or special trip ( non hunting ) that you hope to take soon ?

My recent trip to the UK was a bit of one but my one true "bucket list" hunt is moose. I can't explain why but I have been drawn to moose since I started hunting 17 yrs ago. It will probably have to wait until the youngest goes to college in about 3 years and I have had time to save for it. A close second to that would be New Zealand for tahr and stag. Hopefully I have enough time to make those happen ;)

Grats on your retirement (x2). Well earned. Look forward to your future hunt stories and, of course, pics. :)

Congrats, Sarge! Thank you for sharing the news and for your service. Two retirements by 2 weeks after 50?! Pretty amazing if you ask me.

We have some of those moose critters up here. I would look at B.C. or Labrador /Newfoundland . However if Maine interests you I have a friend who guides there and maybe he can help you.

Congrats on retirement. Pretty darn cool that you did it at 50. Nicely done.

send the youngest to college or moose hunt, send the youngest to college or moose hunt, decisions, decisions :):)

I haven't looked much at Maine yet, is it straight lottery draw or are there landowner/guaranteed tags available?
