I shouldn’t be looking at guns.

Congratulations on your new rifle!

I'll admit to a time or three that I left the house with my gun case to go to the range.

Strangest thing ..

When I got to the range, I found the case empty.
Had to go to the gun shop to rectify the situation.

There was a rifle in the case when I got home.

Happened to my bow case once too if I remember correctly.

One of the costs LH shooters incur... there are very seldom 'deals' on LH models. Gun company new model offerings can be limited by comparison too. It is just reality... 🤷‍♂️
Lefties are loved over in Europe. Not here. Tikka offers most if not all of their models in lefty, whereas here they’re only imported in 3 models. It’s a sad like being a lefty shooter in the US.

But that’s why you build custom 😎

I shoot left hand but have always had right hand rifles. I bought my first left hand rifle and can't get used to the bolt being on the left side. Trying to sell or trade but so far no lefty takers.

What lefty gun?

A guy I have bought from several times, just posted a handful of really nice vintage doubles on another sight. He imports them from England.

This could be your moment...

I went and did it again today. In the late hours of the evening last night I was browsing the internet and I found a deal on a gun that I didn’t need. It came at a price that I just couldn’t pass up and now it sits in my safe and I am obsessing over it.

It’s a Weatherby Mark V chambered in 300 Weatherby. It came with:

(6) full boxes of Weatherby factory rounds with 180 grain noslers.
(1) full box federal premium 180 grain Gamekimgs
(3) loose rounds of the federals.
(1) 20 round box of deprimed Weatherby factory brass.
(1) box Weatherby Select 180 grain
(1) Lee Pacesetter Die set.

All for $650. I didn’t do any haggling or negotiating. Just handed him the cash.

I know the 300 Weatherby is getting obsolete.

It’s a lot of gun for sure. The Mark V is definitely an older one from dents and dings and some pitting on the barrel. It’s a South Gate California rifle. I have always wanted a Lazermark but this Mark V will have to do, with its checkered barrel.

Now to mount a scope and see if she can shoot.

If she can shoot I’ll keep her in my safe and break her out for elk hunts.

200 rounds should last me a lifetime at that rate.
You basically stole that, that's a good deal.

I took it out to get her zeroed and I noticed a little play between the barrel and the stock. She would pattern closer than 4” so it looks like I a, going to have to do some work to get it bedded.

Kicks like a healthy mule.

The temptation is real! stay focused on your goals, and remind yourself why you're taking a break from guns – your discipline will pay off!

I recently got a 300 wby as well. I'm curious to see how it kicks, I have never shot a 30 cal. Scope rings came in today, so tomorrow hopefully I can get it ready. Used my daughters hair ties to check clearance yesterday

Oh that’s a 307! You are going to have to update me on how that shoots.

I owned a Weatherby Mark V in .300 Wby mag for many years...great rifle! When I sold it last year, I got 3 times what I paid for it new. I sure wouldn't consider the .300 Wby mag obsolete!
