I am an absolute noob when it comes to fishing. I know how to catch a fish and that’s about it.

I found this old pole in my grandpa’s stash of stuff when grandma died. I know nothing about it; what size of line to use, what I should target, etc.

Can anyone tell me what I have?

I’m using an older Shimano baitcaster my dad gave me.

I doubt any of the patrons in Shakespeare's in downtown Kzoo have any idea of the history of the place.

I believe that rod was for the push button Zebco's , cool stuff in the day . I'd put it on the wall , I love it !
This rod’s being used. It’s still in perfect condition. I actually caught a fairly large bluegill with it two years ago. Haven’t taken it out since

Wonderrods were not cheap junk! Zebco made their own crappy rods. Or maybe True Temper rods would befit a Zebco. Shakespear casting reels were decent enough quality and sturdy. The Johnson closed face reels were a huge step up from Zebco junk. But still good for at least one bird's nest a day. Zebco ... every five minutes! Ugh!
