Hunting Arrows for Traditional bow

Are carbons even safe in a self bow? I thought they were too light and would result in damage eventually, similar to dry firing.

There are ones designed for traditional bows. Heavier GPI than standard carbon shafts.

The Gold Tip Traditional 400s I have are like 9.4 gpi, vs 8.1 or something for standard Hunters.

Also try to stay at 9 or 10 grains per pound for arrow weight. Don't go lighter or you can damage the bow.

+1 on all of this, I just wanted to add - don't be afraid to go over 10 grains per pound with traditional, especially a wood bow. More efficient, less hand shock and quieter. I usually shoot 12-13 gpp

Im a big fan of the optimus shafts. Tuff as nails.
I think I may give the axis a shot just because I like screwing with stuff.

my take down longbow uses carbon express heritage 250 with bow specs 52# @28" its 60" bow my draw length in a compound is 29.5
got me a few elk with it... I cant pull it back anymore with my shoulders both smoked! hope that helps
