Yes. Many uses for porcupine hair. Indian head dresses and paint brushes About 15 years ago an ounce was bringing about $50 if it was the longer guard hair.

Porcupine guard hairs are measured from longest to shortest providing an average length in each bundle. Not all Guard hairs in bundles are all same length.

yes. Besides what has already been mentioned, they are also used on moccasins, and earrings. My favorite Porcupine is one from the Porcupine Caribou herd.

It’s obvious, few people grew up like we did in the outdoors. We had all summer off and only as much 22 ammunition as you could buy from the winter paper route.

When you didn’t shoot gophers, ride horses or go swimming, we would take long hikes with the dog. Once the dog hit the first porcupine, we figured out how to catch them without getting stuck. Any other method has no guarantees.
