Anyone have a headlamp brand that doesn’t always turn on in your pack? Tired of pulling my headlamp out to dead batteries because the button got pushed

My Black Diamonds have a lock function. Hold the powered button for 5 seconds and it locks until you hold it again for 5.

I’ve had my Petzl for several years, never had it come on in my pack. Also like the rechargeable battery.

My Fenix light has a lockout function too. I have to hold down 2 buttons together to lock and unlock the power. Also, the head swivels back so the buttons are partly covered by a metal ridge. So far it has always worked well to prevent battery drain.

Last year I used an Fenix HP 25 with my wild land fire gear. Has a lockout. Super impressive but a bit pricy. A quality headlamp.

Same. Fenix is by far the best headlamp I’ve ever used. It’s heavy and expensive, but worth it.

I just flip one battery around so it can't turn on...

I just put one of the batteries in backwards until I'm ready to use it.

I love this one, best headlamp I’ve used by far. It’s extremely bright. Rechargeable but also runs on 2 CR123s, which is a very important feature to me. It’s nice being able to pop in fresh batteries when you need to.

My Petzl has never come on. Simple and reliable thus far even in some nasty weather.

I carry about 10 extra batteries and try to remove them from the headlamp after hunting season (if I remember).

Ive run Zebralights for years now and just give the battery cap a 1/4 twist to "lock it out". Works well, I just do it by habit as I pull it off my head now.

As others have already said…Black Diamond has a lock function. Been very happy with my Black Diamond Storm.

I've got three of the black diamond and they are great. However, picked up one of the Fenix HR65 rechargable before this season. That thing is awesome. It's expensive but well worth it.

Led lensor with a focusable beam. Their AA/aaa versions are the best in their class imo, until you move up to the newer battery styles. Then Fenix, zebra, a host of brands make great lamps with the new batteries.

I am of a different opinion on rechargeable headlamps. If a rechargeable goes dead in the field, you are sunk. With a battery operated one, you are out only the 45 seconds that it takes to replace them.
