Looks like the Whitetail herd here in Indiana is taking another blow to the numbers again this late Summer. I hate to see it no matter where it is. . .just makes it worse that its here. The DNR has not confirmed they were EHD or "Blue Tongue" fatalities, however, all were found in/around water which is a sure sign for me.

Awful news....I hope it stays away from Ohio. We had it hit our herd pretty good a few years back. Keeping my fingers crossed!

That sucks to say the least.
Wasn't that long ago that the southern part of the state had a Blue Tongue epidemic.... 2008 maybe?

Has it been dry there this year? It was terrible 2 years ago here in Iowa.

It is a really weird affect. One farm will have very few hits and a farm 3/4 mile away could have severe die off. We found over 10 deer on a mile long stretch of a river we duck hunted. They were everywhere.

The email I got said there were two cases in the wild and that most of the cases were on deer "farms". The two confirmed wild cases were listed as being in Parke county.

Kinda surprised as I thought EHD usually showed up in dry years and this year as been anything but.

These pics are from just north of indy, Parke Co, and Vermillion co. . .I was also surprised because of how wet it has been here this year. . .I'll wait till DNR confirms to start getting real worried. I haven't found any yet. . .I'd like it to stay that way too!
