Ollin Magnetic Digiscoping System

Gunwerks

I've seen the load specifics for gunwerks factory ammo posted online before. Might be worth looking for if someone cares. There's enough load data out there for common cartridges that I dont know that it offers much over other sources though. I don't think they have any special sauce - build a gun and ammo out of good components, machine things well, and it should shoot most stuff pretty well.

I've bought a couple used. The first was an older rifle but was nearly new. It came with a bunch of the custom ammo. The load info was provided in each box. It shot ok, but I wasn't really impressed. I changed bullets and powder and it's an absolute tack driver.

And you could cut quite a bit of fat off even that and still get to the same place - swap Tikka for the Defiance, drop after market trigger for a $10 spring, keep the tikka DBM and mag, Maven RS1.2 i.l.o. the Mark 5.

I've been shooting a Gunwerks 28 nosler with a Revic scope for 5 years now.

By far the most accurate gun I own. It was a gift from my brother so I can't comment on the price, but it's an accurate shooting bugger. Last year alone it killed 2 bears, 3 elk, a deer and an antelope.

My buddy was on an ibex hunt in Kyrgyzstan and the other guy in camp had a gunwerks rifle and missed like 4 times before my buddy loaned him his build on a krg bravo with a mark 4, dialed for him and told him the wind hold when he finally dumped one, first shot at like 500. lol.. ouch… turns out just owning a 12k rifle don’t mean chit if you don’t shoot it and know external ballistics or what the hell your doing.

Gunwerks clearly gets a nice multiple on their products due to excellent branding targeting customers who are willing to pay to have the wheat sorted from the chaff for them. I think many of their products and ideas are pretty decent. Their ideal customers are the opposite of rifle geeks, people who want a state of the art system handed to them. However, since the nut behind the bolt is inherently part of the system, it doesn’t really work out well unless its coupled with training and practice.

I am amazed by the grip long range killing has on hunters these days. mtmuley

Which they are also happy to provide, for a nominal fee!

It certainly gets more than its share of air time. I'm not inherently against it, but the percentage of those who are putting in the work to make good outcomes highly probable is quite small. Federal was using 1000 yard performance on elk as a point of note in their recent release, and the number of people who could do that with high odds of success is laughably small.

They certainly do! Though it's only the beginning, if you actually want to get good.

I was lucky enough couple years ago to spend a day at their range as a guest. Spent entire day shooting all the rifle models and trying various ammo with couple of their mostly sales guys. Lots of nice equipment for sure, quality was evident in everything. Had some informative discussions about how they go about building rifles and matching ammo for those rifles. I always think some models look more like rayguns than hunting rifles but they are very effective and comfortable shooters. The guns they make are not for most hunters but the services they provide some well-off people appreciate and will gladly pay for. Can't imagine how much in costs I shot of their ammo that day, especially with some of the big bore stuff. Thanks gunwerks
