I have a dog but it’s more successful for ruffed grouse to get them yourself. I shoot most of them off old trails and logging roads. A flusher often results in no shot but really helps if you need to find wounded birds. A pointer would be the way to go but I don’t hunt upland enough to justify a pointerOne of my goals next year is to take up bird hunting. That is a wonderful bounty you have right there! Did use a dog or did you kick em up on your own?
No blues here but from my understanding they are large birds with white meat as well? If that’s the case I would agree bigger birds means more delicious meatNothing like grouse, although I prefer blues, the ruffed are certainly more photogenic.
