I think it would take me 4+ days to traverse the crest of the Bridger Range, but Greenhorn was in "Goat Mode" yesterday and did the Hunt Talk crowd proud.

If I could cover that terrain in that time, I would also be "obsessed with goats."

Most Montana guys who have obsessions with the Caprinae subfamily are more connected to domesticated versions of Ovis than wild pointy-horned Oreamnos

Congrats, Greenhorn. You deserved those beers last night.

Nice job Kurt! I didn't think you were going to do it this year. Great finish!

congrat Kurt. That is a tough run. My sister has done it 3 times and my brother once. I've always wanted to say I did it but never have. What an accomplishment!

He would have been faster but he was packing an 80mm Swaro spotter and stopped to look for goats

Pretty amazing. Cameron Haynes look out, here comes Greenhorn.

That plaid western shirt with the sleeves ripped off looks pretty cool. Here I've been wearing these technical running shirts, no wonder I run so slow!

I'm going to have to start looking at Goodwill for some like Greenhorn's so I can be that fast.

That was my 4th ridge run. If a non-runner like me can do it and have fun, anybody can. Every local should do that at least once, it's really fun. The theme this year was very cool, on the shirts and the trophies... check it out.

Mike Wolfe took home that trophy. The guy's pretty much a mountain running machine. He set the course record. Weather was perfect as was the cold beer at the end.

LOL, I misread BigFin's post and thought it was you that won the race. I kept wondering why the locals were posting congrats Kurt when the article said the winner was Mike Wolfe.

Just under 4 1/2 hours still is pretty impressive for that kind of a run/hike. 20 miles and 6,800' elevation gain on a rocky trail. I would be lucky to average 30 minutes a mile on something like that which would put me in at 10 hours or so. I read on one of the blog posts that it was the second year in a row that someone broke their arm during the race.

I wish I could run like that. My knees would just tell me to F off and explode. I did a 3 mile trail run an hour ago and that is ok, but I don't think I would ever think about doing a 20 miler. I will stick to biking where the worst impact is hitting a tree (been there, done that):D
Kurt, how was your time compared to other years?

Don't worry Green went "Beast Mode", I'll find a photo. He would have gone fsater but he stopped to oil up his pectorals and quads, to look like his idol through the finish. If you want to congratulate him personally he'll be out in Bozeman tonight looking for some birthday companionship, hopefully from a girl. Happy birthday dude, good run Saturday!

Hey send me a note when the Lottery opens up. That looks like one to have done....
