I’ve yet to have a big game animal spring up when it looked dead, but I still poke every one of them cautiously just in case. Actually nice to have one on camera as a cautionary tale…and Mr. Gramface completely deserved that one too!

You'd be surprised at just how often it happens. I get calls to track deer all the time that do that. Several years back I had a call from a guy that had already taken a picture with the deer, gone to get his 4 wheeler, and came back to the deer being gone. High shoulder shots above the spine will paralyze them anywhere from a few seconds to minutes. When they regain feeling, they're off at a dead run.

Well, little do you guys know but he has been trying to shoot a duck for fifteen years with a handgun. He actually carries the shotgun for self defense. Do you know how hard it is the get a flying duck with a 9mm? Ya its hard. This dude rocks!
