I've had a lot of trouble with shoulder injuries the last few years. The result being, I had pretty well stopped bowhunting.

This past spring I decided to see what I could do, so I got out this old Parker Hunter Mag I've had for years, kept turning down the draw weight to a point I could draw and hold comfortably - this was ultimately 58lb. Also, I put a flipper rest on it and started finger shooting instead of using a release. When finger shooting I only have to draw to the corner of my mouth and don't have to rotate my hand over (which really seems to aggravate the rotator cuff problems). I'm good shooting 30yds.

So anyway I got out and hunted last weekend, didn't see much, but I did get a little bull to squeal and chuckle at me. Hearing that response, even though it was pretty half hearted, sure made me think how much I've missed it. Even though I'm kind of a shadow of my former archery-shooting self, it's great to be back chasing elk around in September again.

As someone with a rebuilt shoulder, I feel your pain. ‘Welcome back!

Good for you! I am approaching the time when I keep turning the poundage down until I can't guarantee good performance, then I will have to use the dreaded and hated x bow. Might not ever get there, I hope.
