Game Carts for Elk?

I’ve wheeled out a few deer, all on gated roads. It might have been a little easier than quartering a packing but it wasn’t some amazing game changer. I typically have a cart in my truck all fall but places where I could actually use it vs where I hunt are a small percent

I still want to hear what designated wilderness is making exceptions just from a call

Yeah, no mechanized use in wilderness areas- no game carts.

They do work fine for elk though.

Tried a few, never worked. A frame pack is the only thing that has consistently moved elk out of the field and into my vehicle.
If you’re stuck on using a game cart, find something that has tall wheels that aren’t attached in the middle. That way you can ride over brush and such
I've knocked on many doors looking for answers concerning mechanical game cart use. Here in Idaho, I've been told by F&G mechanical game carts are permissible for retrieving downed game animals. However, I can't haul my game cart along with me everywhere I go while hunting. Check with your local F&G department for what is allowed before firmly deciding on a specific make and model of game cart.

Which wilderness areas? Forest service or BLM?
Forest Service. When talking with Idaho F&G about mechanical game cart use, we understand its about downed game retrieval and not pulling it all over creation while I hunt.

i don't think AI-Bill knows "wilderness" from wilderness designated areas.
