I live in WY, and it is well established that the cartels are working I-25 successfully these days. I work in corrections, so we monitor the new inmates pretty closely.

I'd bet it more was like the suspected defense weapon against the attacker and possibly has the suspects blood on it.

My cheap axe probably would have been in a block of wood outside my tent, and if I had time to grab something for defense, I would likely have tried for the 44 or 12 gauge first.

I’ve also seen some (every) of those shows. If your presumption is factual then we know that the assailant’s DNA would also be in the crime scene on other items. Because you can’t erase all of it.
