Gaging interest in hunting NZ Wapiti/ fiordland deer 2025

Plan on going into fiordland in may next yr after the ballot. Looking for a couple of guys to join me, must be fit and resilient, not for the faint hearted as it can rain up to or more than 1000 inches per annum. Permits are free, a heli ride to a hut as Basecamp. Archery is fun, although I'll be carrying a rifle. Pm if interested.

It will be public and solo, I'll be doing a helicopter flight in and trying to find a tahr first then a deer after a move hopefully. I will be going after the roar so hopefully glassing stags will be more of a possibility.

1000 inches! That is 83+ ft per year! 25+ meters! Are you sure about that number?

Having long bow hunted NZ a couple of times.......There is steep, wet, and thick....and then there is New Zealand steep, wet, and thick. Day after day....soaking wet soon after leaving camp.....then sliding down the muddy slopes and not being able to see more than 20 yards. An occasional roar but a long time to get there and then not being able to see through the underbrush left me bewildered.
