Elkduds, thank you. Several of us were listening today and Rita is certainly easy to listen too

JLS---thank you as well, your pick sparked a bit of a discussion about the group. To condense the discussion: It was argued that the original group is still together after all this time. Not quite ---actully the only founding member left is Henley, as Walsh took Leadons place and Schmidt took Meisers place. Frey has passed. If they had not talked Linda into singing Desperado for them, who knows---but she did and their music and Henley----plus Walsh and Schmidt--are still entertaining audiences. I think it is pretty interesting that Glen's son is now in the band, plus the addition of Vince Gill can't hurt. Without a doubt "they" Frey, Henly, Leadon, Felder, Walsh, Meisner, and Schmidt and the music of the Eagles have transversed a generation or two.

mtelkhuntress--very enjoyable! I actually saw those two girls perform and they are very good.

I was never a Gene Simmons fan and I dont see his band or his music posted, so I must not be alone. They do have one advantage. With all that makeup no one can see how old they are now---assuming they are still performing ??

While Bernie Leadon was a fine guitarist, his greater gifts were on banjo (Midnight Flyer from On the Border) and mandolin (Saturday Night from Desperado). As Frey and Henley steered the band away from country rock and toward the harder edge in Hotel California, Leadon recruited his friend Don Felder to replace him. At the same time, bassist Randy Meisner (high harmonies, lead vocal on Take It To The Limit) left to escape the seismic friction that accompanied superstardom.
Timothy B Schmidt was recruited from Poco to replace Meisner, a rich irony in that Meisner originally came from Poco to Eagles, and rejoined Poco after. Walsh joined after that. In Post #16 of this thread, Felder (suspenders) and Walsh prevue the lead guitar conversations that later illuminated Hotel California, before Felder left the band over intense interpersonal conflicts with Frey.

Film director Cameron Crowe had a brief career as rock music journalist during high school. Those experiences informed his most regarded film, Almost Perfect, which fictionalized his time touring with the the Eagles.

Bighornram. Good one for sure, at least for me. Thank you ---and others that I have enjoyed ---The Highway Men, Linda/Dolly/Emmylou, Sinatra/Sammy/Liza ( you probably wasn't ready for that last one ), Conway/Loretta, George/Tammy

Harley. another good one. Few will remember The Int. Submarine Band.

Music helps, at least it helps me. Depression has taken a toll on some here and at least for a few minutes I saw even those who have been feeling down, taping a foot when I played --Louis Armstrong, "What a Wonderful World" and I am about to play your David Allen Coe, pick.---thank you. Actually David, has a couple that will make one smile.

Earlier today, we had a good laugh when we played ------"The Girls of Fox News-" Cunningham -----(-: (-:

p.s. Bighornram---the way the Eagles got their name, I agree, what a classic story

Songwriter Loudon Wainwright III included a pun in the song title/lyrics, as the character of the MASH anesthesiologist, Painless, was the hoax suicide in the film. Another LWIII song that 'left a mark' was:

When Wainwright's son Rufus was born, he recorded a song titled, Rufus is a T!t Man. Which partly inspired me to name our brain-damaged rescue Viszla Rufus. The rest of the inspiration came from a character in the National Lampoon Yearbook.
