Packers proposed ban of tush push, GM confirms
An NFL team has submitted a rule proposal to ban the "tush push" quarterback sneak, Troy Vincent, the NFL's executive vice president of football operations, told reporters at the scouting combine Monday.www.espn.com
Wonder how many times it’s been ran and how many injuries there have been in that specific play?I loved Washingtons attempts to defeat the tush push in the playoffs. If they can't leap over the line to stop they shouldn't be allowed to get multiple guys behind to push it. Better yet ban it--it's a real injury concern I believe--and I think the league is looking at it from that aspect.
I am waiting for the day when some time lines up several beefy nose tackles to push back on the other O line in an obvious short yardage situation. Where does it end if it isn't regulated, would be my question.
Fair question...no idea just heard injury concerns are part of the reason used to suggest a ban.Wonder how many times it’s been ran and how many injuries there have been in that specific play?
You don't see how someone could use options available to them while simultaneously believing it would better if no one had that option available? The Eagles and Bills have scored a touchdown or achieved a first down on 87% of their attempts using the play...
Bills coach Sean McDermott shared his reservations about the safety of it...
So, I just feel like, player safety and the health and safety of our players has to be at the top of our game, which it is. It's just that play to me has always been ... or the way that the techniques that are used with that play, to me have been potentially contrary to the health and safety of the players.
Hmmm... Bill's Coach feels concern for the safety of players though not at the risk of getting into the Super Bowl.![]()
When they are one of the two teams who use the play while other teams opt not to use it... for safety, it's simple to see McDermott's priorities. Wins over player safety. You don't see how someone could use options available to them while simultaneously believing it would better if no one had that option available?
But let’s add another regular season game!!!!!player safety and the health and safety of our players has to be at the top of our game
Because the packers would cry and try to make it illegal. Why doesn't a team just assemble 7 massive linemen and qb sneak it every single down with a 400 pound beast followed up by another 400 pound beast pushing him? Wouldn't that score on every single drive?
I think they're crying because the Tush Push packed them.Because the packers would cry and try to make it illegal.
To the extent that the TP makes longer drives, more scores, more offense, I do not see the NFL stopping it.I think they're crying because the Tush Push packed them.
Agree. If a team wants to chance their QB... and the QB is for it...To the extent that the TP makes longer drives, more scores, more offense, I do not see the NFL stopping it.
