Football General Talk

Not certain who I like. Very certain this nonsense of either Packers or Steelers continuing has to end.
Underdog stigma goes to Lions no matter the talent. Refreshing to see them win.
Ravens vs S.F./ Dallas would be fun.
I will be kind for Muleys sake...Dallas has never been a team I liked.😀 but Dak has been a whipping post and I think he is a stand up dude.
Ravens on all cylinders take it.

Serious thought for potential discussion: Why does (cant) the NFL use technology to increase the accuracy of the play/calls.

For example. Can't the football have sensors built into it along with devices that recognize the sensor all over the field (line of gain, goal lines, sidelines) to instantly and accuracy determine first downs, tds, etc? In hockey they have been testing this in the pucks for a couple years now, I'm not aware of it in footballs yet.

Can't we use timing devices and video to accurately get snap times, clock stoppage, etc.

Just those two things alone I think would drastically clean up the game and associated "bad ref calls". I'm just thinking of ways to improve that side of the game because right now I would think that ref reputation has to be at an all time low

Serious answer; Because no matter how many chitty calls, mindless shilling, contrived celebrity fawning cutaways...it will be watched while slowly, but surely, slipping behind paywall.

I usually have issue with the more subjective calls like
pass interference, what's a catch, roughing the passer or holding.
I personally dont like the inconsistencies (if it's holding in the preseason it should be holding the last 2 minutes of the Superbowl).
Anything short of Artificial Intelligence and we are going have a human element.
That's a good thing.

Agreed, but I wonder if we will see, or have seen AI making play calls. It would be a great opportunity for AI to get into football and I wonder how it could be kept out.

Eventually there could be a potential hacking issue with the tech. Probably not enough to worry about but would be interesting to discover some gambling degenerate/hacker causing first downs and TDs to be had or not had

Let just hope the NFL doesn't degenerate into some dystopian type of game like in The Last Boy Scout

This brings up an interesting point, how many degenerate gamblers do you think are smart enough to hack something like that? They would definitely have to pay someone. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Anyone in deep with a bookie probably won't be typing/hacking too much with two broken arms
