Football General Talk

Big Sky teams just don’t stand up in the playoffs. Most years the best 4 teams in FCS are usually the best 4 teams in the MVFC.
I'm gonna enjoy watching the Vikings die an early playoff death because of this post. Not that it ain't gonna happen anyway. mtmuley

I did "the Gritty" on Uncle Larry's elk hunt last month. He looked at me, completely bewildered, asking, "WTF is that? You OK?"

Being he grew up in MN and actually went to watch the Vikings lose to the Chiefs in their first Super Bowl, I thought he was still a Vikings fan. When I explained to him the Justin Jefferson Gritty dance, his response was, "I don't watch those no good !*$%)#*$&#'s in the NFL any more."

Not sure what was funnier, my bad imitation of the Gritty or Larry's color-filled response on film.

SKOL! (at least for today)

I already have it on my calendar. 10-35 in San Fran round 2. But doesn’t make my observation less true.

That's hard to argue. As someone with a foot in both camps. I graduated from NDSU...damn not far from 50 years ago, and our daughter graduated from the University of Montana.

NDSU, even when they are having a "down" season, are a powerhouse.

If you include the injuries, this is our second weakest team in the last 12 years. But we still make the game in Frisco.

To add to my blood pressure this weekend, the Bison went down 0-16 in first quarter before finally righting the ship and winning to move on to 10th of last 12 championship games.

Unless MT State mounts their own comeback it will be the best two teams in the nation - the Greater Dakota Bison vs the Lesser Dakotah Bunnies - in the big game.

Vikings game in 1st quarter felt like deja vu with the bison game. Unbelievable the good guys came back in both games.

Bison passing game is beyond atrocious. Can’t believe they just won the national semi final game with 5 yards of passing total..

Speaking of JJ, it has been a long time since the Vikings had a talent like him. Actually their entire offense is very talented. It will be fun while it lasts. No one has to tell us we won't get all the way to the promised land...we're Vikings fans, after all.

Although it pains me to say it, it is time to officially call Theilen "over the hill". He can still make a few key plays here and there, but he is no longer a true #2 receiver and is not worth $11+ million a year against the cap.

Yup. And next year he is $19.967 million against the cap. Looks like KJ Osborn might be ready to step into Theilen's role.
