It's been an amazing journey from the beginning to just a little over a week ago. Anyone who has children and has taken them on this same path knows exactly how I feel, the ups and downs, and the ultimate joy and emotion when it all finally comes together. From hunters education, to shooting, to being in the field, it's been one of the most incredible adventures I've experienced, and I wasn't even carrying a gun doing it, I was just the guide.
Without getting into all the details, my 12-year old daughter was lucky enough to draw a late tag in southwest Idaho. We spent quite a bit of time out hunting, and passed on quite a few bucks, and even had a few stalks busted as well. She had set her goals of taking at least a 4-point, considering the unit we were in, this wasn't an unreasonable goal.
With one week left of the season she was finally able to put the smack down on this nice 4x4. There's nothing like watching your child work so hard and be able to accomplish their dreams. I'm really proud of her for getting her first deer, and so glad I could be a part of it.
Thanks to fowladdict1 and elkmagnet for helping us out.
