Recently came across the Sako vixen/A1 line. Iffn I could find a PPC sporter model for the right price I think I'd struggle to pass. The factory wood looks like it might be good enough but might be swayed to have a custom stock built. Of course, i couldn't leave well enough alone and it would prob need a new tube chambered in 6 ARC to shoot a bunch of factory ammo.

Iff'n any of you classy rifle guys @ismith @shrapnel have hot tips about where to find such a thing and aren't too turned off by me bastardizing it, please share your tips.

You must be very young. Anyone past puberty might die of old age before it is done. Dennis is great, but he is kinda booked up... ;)
Pretty much the same story for the majority of the custom builders though, right?

Yeah, sorta. But if you know someone... Just sort of depends. The scope and flavor of the project is also important. In some cases, I have done it much like building a house and acting as my own general contractor, while doing some of the work on my own.

I’ve found two AI vixen sporters in 6 PPC USA, you have to watch the auction sites and forums. Faithfully. Don’t be afraid to post some want to buy posts as well.

So these days, the 6 ARC is the hot item. Not a ton of difference from the Grendel or PPC, but you’ll likely have a faster twist bbl for the heavier bullets with those.

Plenty in 222 over here in Australia, I paid 1200 bucks for mine less than a yr ago, looks like new and shoots better than my old eyes can see.

I pretty much cringe when I come across a homeowner who wants to General their own house project.
My first thought..." oh boy, here we go"

Yep, could be good, could be bad. Right now, I have a general contractor to build my house and barn. But I still do my own general contracting when I build a rifle. What's that speaks to my limitations and abilities? Or simply to my laziness and enthusiasm and different directions is hard to say.

At the current time, i am doing a major remodel of my number one target rifle. Meanwhile, a general contractor is pestering me with questions about the house that is slowly going up this winter.
