As we all know, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Here is a picture I took this past weekend down toward where WallyDog killed his Unit 40 Buck.

DSC00042.sized.jpg

Ten told me how to do the calculations on how much land has been damaged by ATVs vs. how much has not been damaged. If anybody can do the calculation for me, on this piece of Public Lands in Idaho, I would appreciate it...

That sucks!

We need Spike to hurry and get the picture of 5 mile here in Utah. It is sickening to say the least

Gunner, I took out my Planemetrics fro mthe Office and Surveyed the Area of Wheel Damage to that of the Left alone area. I'd have to Agree with 10-bears that the Area Damaged in this Particular picture is on't 41.3%. Thats counting all tier tracks and matted down area... Sorry , But ten was right in this particular case
wink.gif

Hmmm...I think I've been there or are there other places that torn up?

I'll get some pictures up later this week. None, from 5-mile (the worst case I've EVER seen), but from along the historic Pony Express Trail through western UT.

Do it Spikey!

That picture above doesn't even come close to 5 mile.

Terrible none the less.

Danners and Diamond horse shoes would never leave a shittin' mess like that.

What a mess.

Somewhere there is one busy ATVer ruining it for everyone...yeah sure.

They need to catch that one guy.

Moosie,
I think you are right. Ten said there is more of Idaho that has not been spoiled by aTV than there is that has been trampled. And by this picture, the areas between the tire tracks do exceed the areas in the tire tracks, by 59% to 41%.

Buzz,
Yeppers, that Education plan by the BRC is certainly working. They got all but that one guy educated.... Trouble is, it seems like everywhere I go in Idaho, that one guy has already been there.....

quote:
Yeppers, that Education plan by the BRC is certainly working.

Very impressive, blame the BRC for the ignorance of an individual. Try this - The idiots of which you speak continue to act like idiots BECAUSE they have not heard of the BRC. Why haven't they heard of the BRC you ask? Because extremists do all they can to keep their message out of places where people might listen, such as schools. Sound familier? Just like keeping the NRA's Eddie Eagle program out of schools. Naw, we don't want 'em edumacated.

You all continue to slander BRC all you want. Try being honest with yourself about them for a change. Maybe they could do more.

Ten,

You are flippin amazing, to make excuses for that kind of damage!!!
rolleyes.gif

So, if it is Motorcycle damage, then it does not count? So, ol' Ten Bears is willing to BAN his 2-wheeled Brethern from Public Lands, just not the Fat-Assed ATVs? Looks like you are showing your "true colors"....
tongue.gif

Ten, are you part of the 10% that causes all this damage, or are you part of the 90% that is "educated"????

Ten's gonna do everything he can to keep ATVs from being restricted in any way. I'm starting to think he might be one of the fat asses!

EG/IT, you guys have ceased to amaze me with the depth of name calling and unfounded accusations you 2 will use to make inflamatory jabs at another.

I'm beginning to think you both have a future in the newspaper business.

EG, in your photo I see trails made by ATV's, motorcycles, full size vehicles, cattle(?), and possibly game animals(deer & elk?) I have always considered motorcycles in the ATV catagory, and never said they should be banned (that came from your mouth not mine).
quote:
Ten, are you part of the 10% that causes all this damage, or are you part of the 90% that is "educated"????

I can't believe you would waste my time with a stupid question like that. As I have stated in the past (1-P is my witness), I do not support pioneering of trails, or unauthorized water crossings. Do you understand that? I am anadvocate for designating trails and roads for ATV travel, and restricting other areas (have you gotten a clue yet

).

If you and IT (and others...) want to keep wasting time with these issues (and ignorant assumptions) I've got a few years left.

What is the volume of area of standing grasses versus "trampled" grasses (BTW it's not 40% MOOSIE).

HEy ten... Let's go on the Safe side and Say it's only 1%...... Wouldn't 1% still be too much ?

Elkgunner,

There are only two lanes on this site. Middle of the road, and way over in the ditch to the left. I think you'll find Ithaca down by the fence, looking for some ditch weed to smoke.
