My father killed a good bull 3 years in a row in Wyoming in the same meadow on opening day. They named it "Paul's Meadow" after that. It was an escape route for bulls feeding on the river.
There was a series of 4 drainages leading down into the river Each morning each of us would hit a different drainage, and one of us or 2 of us would find elk. It really was just a process of elimination.
Until 2011. Then I covered 90 miles and on Day 5 finally found a rag horn outside of the "usual places" . That was an odd year.
