Everglades fishing trip

My buddy Justin and I drove down to the Everglades for a long weekend of fishing. We’d both wanted to fish salt water down in Florida and chase snook and tarpon. We booked an Airbnb and made the 9hr drive south. We had a great trip catching many different species including Snook, Tarpon, Mangrove Snapper, small Jack Crevalle, small Goliath Grouper, 2 kinds of catfish, Lady Fish, big Sea Trout and a 6’ shark. It was a great trip.

On our final day we left Everglades city at 3:45am and stopped and caught some peacock bass otw home. We caught 9 total and I caught a fantastic peacock. All in all it was a great trip!

Nice Peacock! Not exactly the backcountry but we burned them up in the canals near the Miami airport this February.

Freaking hellacious once the sun went down.

No. When he came up beside the boat he came off after a few seconds, but he was caught.

That area is tricky. Everything place looks like it should hold fish but they arent everywhere. At least generally.

I grew up fishing in the glades, hope you had fun! Its a wild and crazy place.
