Girlfriends family has a neat place and some land just outside of town. We've been here twice to visit now. I can't get over how gorgeous this valley is, it literally reminds me of those pictures of Switzerland.

Does all over the place in every field. I saw some guy with 2 nice bull racks in his truck bed passing by this morning, while I was drinking coffee staring at these badass mountains to the south. Next time I visit I gotta go glass or do some more exploring, it would probably be next summer. I haven't researched yet, mostly draw tags? Anybody hunt or recreate around this area?

Agreed. Microbreweries popping up is usually a tell tale sign. Although they have a few good food joints in town. I ought to start diving into these F&G regs.

Some of the tags in that area are pretty hard to draw, others are easy. There are a bunch of different units around that area. The Eagle Cap is an amazing place, and well worth the effort to get into it.

Back in town visiting again. Does anyone know of any good places to go glass and see some elk/deer close to Joseph or Enterprise?

I can see about 100 deer from the car driving into town, but that's not as fun.

I have not been there, so no help sorry. But it’s an area I have been looking at for my Oregon visit in the next few years. Good luck with your scouting.

We used to pack into the Eagle Cap when I was a kid. We lived in Baker but had friends in Wallowa. It is amazing country. I’d like to go back some day.

We have an off-grid shack near Sumpter, OR. But, damn I guess I am too tight to drop the $$ to hunt in my backyard there being NR. Sure is fun to glass the deer, elk and goats though.
