1 lucky tag draw, 2 guys, 100+ hours of research, 2000 miles over 30 hours, 14 days of hunting in New Mexico.

Day 1 & 2: The drive.





30 hours straight through, switching off two drivers, maybe 1 hour of sleep each.




At an AirBnb tonight for some much needed sleep. Into the unit tomorrow for a day and a half of scouting before the second archery opener.

Last meal in civilization

After some minor hiccups but we've got a UTV behind us

Good luck! That is easily one of the most boring soul-crushing drives through the middle of the country prior to hitting central NM. Well done!

The cell service is virtually non-existant. However, up at 9000 feet while I'm eating lunch Ive got a few bars.

Here's a preview of how our scouting day is going. I sat down to glass and there was a bull bedded at about 250 yards. We cohabitated the ridge top for about 20 minutes before curiosity got the better of him and he closed the distance to about 55 yards broadside. If it was this time tomorrow, he'd be dead....
