I have really enjoyed going through all of the pictures and posts on this thread. I have only hunted elk once myself, and didn’t take a bull. Hopefully I will get to do it again soon and tag a bull next time.

The picture below is a bull a local hunter brought into the meatcutter while I was dropping off a deer. Pic is from 2002 in Wyoming’s Bighorn mountains. The pickup truck is a beat up Toyota T100 6 1/2’ bed.

2017 unicorn bull. 3x0. Busted a point off as he tumbled down the hill after I shot him, making him a 2x0. We spotted him and another small bull in the morning and watched them bed down in some trees. Snuck in on them and snapped some photos at 95 yards through my binos. As we were stalking him, we spotted a herd farther off and I figured there would be a bigger bull in it. There was, and I missed. So we went back to where this bull was bedded, and followed his tracks over the hill to where he was feeding. Didn't miss that time.

First ever elk, heck it was only 20 minutes after I saw an elk for the first time, 2nd ever elk hunt. Will post story next week, going in to get the last load this morning. CO 1st rifle this past Wednesday morning. I’ll never kill one 7.8 miles from the truck again...

Thank goodness I grew up in an elk hunting family.
Grandpa with my 2 older brothers and me (age 1) skinning elk. (No my mother doesn't dress me anymore!)
