We'll I spent a bunch of time working on my droptine buck. I finally finished it enough that I can live with the outcome. Repairing the droptine was no problem the issue is with coloring them to match the horn it is attached too. I tried about one hundred combinations until I came up with the one that worked the best for me. Here is some pics from start to finish.

Heavy gauge wire with smaller guage wire wrapped around it so the Apoxy sculpt can grab onto it.

Now the fun part of coloring the antler. I used a combination of antler stain from Research Mannikins to get the desired look.

wow! It turned out awesome man! Thats a talent Bryce.. You could certainly go into the business.

Nice job on the droptine. For some reason i thought you had found the broken piece? The antlers look great, Good Job!!!
Nope I never found the broken piece. I looked for 2 hours but never found it. You might of seen a picture of me holding up a stick in it's place to show what it might have looked like.

Looks like you know how to re-build nice Racks. WOW !! :D
Some repair I can do, other repair I had to pay for. :D

Nice job, Bugler. Post the pic of him before he broke it.
I dinked around with photoshop and greyed out the background.

Didn't you have a picture of him through a spotter or something when he still had the point?

Man, that's one nice buck...

I think this is what you are talking about. Here is the video I took of him before I went after him. I studied the video for hours trying my best to get the shape and length right on the dropper. The best shot I had of him was when he was walking away and you could see the dropper went below his chin. The video loses any quality it had once I downloaded it to photobucket.

Looks super sharp. Do you test the stain on samples before applying it to the actual tine?

Might as well post the trophy photo with the wife again. Two really nice animals....wow!

Well nice pictures, you should post different angles :p

Warren is needing an Elk done that he broke off. What would you charge to fix somethnig like that ? I have another friend that needs an Elk repair too. Or are you jsut doing your own repairs for now ? Is it not worth doing other's ? Looks real good, Kudos !

I haven't thought about doing anyone else's animals yet. I still have done only muledeer so elk are definitely on my list of animals to do. I need some more practice before I would feel comfortable doing someone elses animal.

That repair came out pretty sweet. Thats also a pretty nice buck, did you score him yet by any chance ?
He goes 181 gross with the dropper installed. I'm not sure if I told you guys but he was tagged and I got the info from the fish and game a few months back. How old do you think this guy was?
